Since I've worked creatively with my partner Luke Sital-Singh on several projects, I was delighted to be featured in one of his recent Slow Makers short films, alongside Nick Hand and Ellen Bills of The Letterpress Collective. In the film Luke and I reflect on the process of working together, and in particular the original print we all collaborated on to celebrate the release of Luke's latest album, Time is a Riddle. I hope you enjoy briefly peering through the window into our working lives...
I'm honoured to have a piece of work in the June tech-issue of Glamour Magazine as part of their 'Insta Art' piece. They sent a few Instagram artists and photographers runway accessories and clothing to interpret in their own unique style... I created linocuts of each of my items, four fabulous SS16 statement earrings!
First off I sketched the earrings and traced my drawings before transferring each one onto the lino using that classic method we all learnt at school, rubbing on the back of the drawing with a pencil - the perfect nifty trick for relief printing processes!
Then I got busy cutting, which took several hours to get all the details just right. Once complete, I rolled an even layer of ink on each relief, did a few tests and then printed them all onto a large sheet of paper (I used Somerset Velvet printmaking paper, a longtime favourite of mine).
You can see photos of my process and the results below. And of course, five of the final prints are available in my shop... HERE! Oh and also, read the article for yourself in the latest British Glamour issue :-)
This week I was featured on the Kollektiv Gallery blog, with questions from the talented artist and curator Sophie Giblin. So head over there to see my picture interview!
I wrote briefly before about their summer exhibition 'Death by Gallery' but if this is the first time you've heard of Kollektiv, you are in for a treat! Find out what they're about at kollektivgallery.com and read my interview HERE.
