Since I've worked creatively with my partner Luke Sital-Singh on several projects, I was delighted to be featured in one of his recent Slow Makers short films, alongside Nick Hand and Ellen Bills of The Letterpress Collective. In the film Luke and I reflect on the process of working together, and in particular the original print we all collaborated on to celebrate the release of Luke's latest album, Time is a Riddle. I hope you enjoy briefly peering through the window into our working lives...
For all you Bristol locals, a selection of my work is currently being displayed at the wonderful veggie restaurant Flow. Go take a peep while you sip on blood orange gin collins cocktails and devour all their amazing sharing plates (the Keralan coconut and chilli stir fry is my favourite!) you'll be so pleased you did!
Thanks to everyone who came to the lino cut and print workshop at The Letterpress Collective earlier this month in the lovely city of Bristol, it was great to meet such interesting and talented people! Thought I'd share a few photos from the weekend, seeing what everyone made was brilliant and Nick and I were really impressed with how quickly people learnt everything. We set the freshly cut lino images next to some wood or metal type and had a go at experimenting with different papers and printing presses. Here are a few photos...
I'm thrilled to be running a weekend lino workshop at The Letterpress Collective in Bristol with printer, designer and local legend Nick Hand.
On the Saturday I'll be teaching the techniques involved in making your own linocut, which we will print on the Sunday along with Nick in the delightful Letterpress Collective studio. You'll take away your first lino printed artwork as well as a head full of new knowledge to get you going on your lino printing journey. We'll get some great tunes spinning on the record player and (hopefully!) we'll all have a lot of fun.
What I love most about this medium is how accessible it is, once you have an understanding of the techniques you can lino print at home with just a few simple tools. What better way to kick off 2015 than spending a weekend learning new creative skills! The details are below and you can book a place by emailing: firstname.lastname@example.org
Date: Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th February 2015
Venue: The Letterpress Collective, Bristol
